Who We Are
The Council consists of close to 200 members,
including industry, consultants, research and
university representatives, working with key
officials who have front-line responsibility for
New York’s and our nation’s homeland security.
There are over 1,000 companies throughout the
state which provide homeland security products, services and expertise, including Ecology &
Environment, Inc., IBM, National Grid, Northrop
Grumman Corporation, Retlif Testing Laboratories,
The Shaw Group, and Welch Allyn, Inc.
New York State has a long, successful history of
serving the defense industry, and these companies
can transfer their technology to meet
homeland security and homeland defense
needs.
Working in tandem with these companies, the
state supports high tech research being conducted
at our university Centers of Excellence
and Centers of Advanced Technology in such
fields as nanotechnology, photonics, biometrics,
encryption, and sensors.
We’re not just large corporations. Our Council is
proud to represent the interests of many small
businesses who provide vital goods and services
to meet the homeland security needs of
our communities.
